The Go Shrine http://goshrine.com/ -- does not seem to offer servers or client software.

The KGS Go Server http://www.gokgs.com -- a very large server, seems to be based in Japan.
KGS uses the CGoban 3 client see http://www.gokgs.com/download.jsp

Legend Go server http://lgs.taiwango.net/  is a server site in Taiwan with menus only in Chinese.

No Name Go Server (NNGS) http://nngs.cosmic.org/ -- this site is no longer responding as of 2014-12-27

IGS Panda Net http://pandanet-igs.com/communities/pandanet -- another very large server, also seems to be in Japan.
Offers it's own very elegant client software, including PANDANET apps for smartphones and tablets.

Many Faces of Go

Many Faces of Go 12 is a championship level Windows Go client. It is available off http://www.smart-games.com/mfgo12-download.html


  1. Both gGo and JaGo are supposedly playable locally using GNUGo.
  2. WING uses JaGo and hErgo web clients which are available using Java Web Start off the WING English link above.
